Week Seven

Week Seven

I didn't record any weight loss this week, it's the first time so I was feeling quiet down this morning. But I had my appointment with Belinda at the gym for my first fitness evaluation since starting at the gym. My body Fat percent went from 45% to 43%, my Muscle mass stayed about the same at 46% which was fantastic. It means all the weight I've lost has been purely fat! My Visceral Fat (fat around the organs) went from a 10 to a 9. This one was the most surprising of them all, I was already at the top end of the healthy range which is between 1 and 12 but Belinda told me that she normally doesn't see this change until after three months, for me, it was 6 weeks!

So you can see from these photos that it's coming off. Totally lost my boobs, so typical, they could have stayed. But I have also lost most of my tummy so now people don't ask me if I'm pregnant! Belinda has now 'twigged' my weights program a little so that's sure to hurt next week.

But it's all good and hopefully next week we'll see more weight loss but I am due to have my contraceptive needle in a couple of weeks and I have heard from other ladies on the same one as me that their weight loss was really hard around the time they were coming up to their shots so we'll see. Fingers crossed.

WEEK TWO

Today was my first weigh-in. And WOW I was in for a surprise. I lost 2.5kg (5 1/2 pounds) in one week, I know that it's mostly fluid but who cares. The last week has been with it's challengers. I was only able to go to the gym twice due to prior appointments, one being Dane's Cardio appointment at the Mater. That's an all day affair being that it's on the other side of the town. The up side to that is that Dane was cleared for another six months. :)
I was also able to use the time to get some fundraiser poster up at the clinic and on the ward. Today was really the first day of my new exercise program, I did about 45 minutes of low weights but high reps and boy could I feel that I haven't used those muscles in a while. Tonight I finished off with a Pilate's class. This particular class I like a lot, it's more about the focus and meditation. You are still working the core muscles but in a slow, precise way. I always feel very centred and ready to take on the world after doing it. Bring on the next week!

Time to Face up to it

Today was the day that I surrendered myself to the gym to be fully evaluated and as you can see from this photo, it's not a pretty picture. They have one of those wonderful scales that not only measures your weight but also fat%, Muscle% and bone density.
You know when I look at this photo, this is not how I feel and I feel very ashamed that I've let my self go this far. The majority of this weight was put on after Dane first Open Heart surgery. I was already 10kg overweight when he was born, but the extra 15kg that came later and that is purely comfort eating & drinking!
Anyway back to those wonderful scales. What I did learn is that I am 45% fat! Can you believe it, nearly half of me is fat.
The good news is that all my other measurements, bone density, muscle% and fat around the organs were all in the healthy range. My blood pressure and resting heart rate were all good too. Which means apart being a big fat pear the rest of my insides are not in too bad shape.
Belinda, my trainer seem to really understand what I am wanting to achieve and I finally feel like I'll get the right kind of support to achieve my goals.
Dane has his Cardio appointment tomorrow, fingers crossed, all will be fine. Ironically hospital's are really bad places to find healthy food and emotionally I don't handle going back to them..so many bad memories.
